In 2023, Wimpy assumed coaching duties before the 2023 SSAC Tournament where they outscored opponents 24-1 en route to the title, the first in MGA history, and securing the first NAIA Opening Round appearance in school history, going 1-2 in the Indianapolis bracket.
A Cartersville, Ga. native, Randi Wimpy began her softball career at Woodland High School in Cartersville, Ga. Wimpy was a four-year Varsity starter for the Lady Wildcats where she currently still holds the home run and batting average record. In 2018, Woodland High School officially retired her jersey, becoming only the fourth player in school history to receive said honor. In 2011, Wimpy went on to play collegiate softball at Walters State Community College in Morristown, TN. While she was there, she led the nation with a .613 batting average, second in the nation with 26 home runs, 25 doubles and 82 RBI. To end her 2012 season, Wimpy was named TCCAA Conference Player of the Year and NJCAA First Team All-American. Wimpy still holds the batting average and home run record at Walter State Community College to this day. In 2014, Wimpy signed to play at Reinhardt University in Waleska, Ga. During her 2014 season, Wimpy led the nation in home runs with 22, had a .445 batting average and 72 RBIs. To wrap up her 2014 season, she was named AAC Conference Player of the Year and NAIA First Team All-American and helped lead the Lady Eagles to a third-place finish in the NAIA World Series. In 2015, Wimpy proceeded to repeat honors such as AAC Conference Player of the Year and NAIA First Team All-American. In addition to those honors, she also received NFCA First Team All-American and NFCA Diamond Catcher of the Year. In 2016, Wimpy finished her collegiate career at Reinhardt University to become a three-time AAC Conference Player of the Year, three-time First Team All-American, a two-time NFCA First Team All-American and the first NAIA softball player in history to ever receive back-to-back NFCA Diamond Catcher of the Year Award.
