Kara Rawls

Kara is entering her 2nd season at Middle Georgia State University. Coach Rawls comes to Middle Georgia State University from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, where she served as the women's assistant basketball coach during the 2018-19 season. She helped the Lady Hawks to one of the best seasons in program history, setting an NCAA-era record for wins in a single season (22-5 overall, 13-3 conference). As a student-athlete, Kara redshirted her freshman year at the University of Alabama after suffering an Achilles injury. She transferred to Lawson State Community College for one year where she immediately solidified her legacy at Lawson State by helping the team win its first Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) State Championshipin school history. She was named the ACCC Tournament MVP and received the Perry W. Ward President's Award for Women's Basketball. Ms. Rawls finished her remaining three years at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). During her senior season, she helped lead the team to its first Conference USA regular season championship in school history and an appearance in the 2nd round of the Women's NIT Tournament.

Kara will assist in creating and maintaining a successful program for the institution on the court, in the classroom, and in the community. She graduated from UAB with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and a Masters Degree in Applied Sociology. She earned her Associate of Science degree from Lawson State Community College, summa cum laude, and currently pursues a Masters Degree in Sports Management with an emphasis in coaching and athletic adminstration. Kara is the daughter of Carl and Marilyn Rawls.
