Cochran, GA - The Knights were back at home on Thursday as they hosted the Wolfpack of Loyola-New Orleans in the first conference game of the season. The Knights were looking to upset the Wolfpack, who came into the matchup ranked 22nd in the latest NAIA polls.
The Knights came out looking prepared for the challenge of playing a ranked opponent as both teams would trade the lead throughout the first quarter as the game would be tied 13-13 at the end of the quarter. The Knights would come out in the second quarter and take the lead, going up by as many as seven points. The Knights would hold on to the lead and go into the halftime break up 27-23. The Knights would come out of the halftime break and quickly lose the lead as the Wolfpack would score the first five points of the quarter. The Knights would regain the lead as they would go up by five points with 6:11 remaining in the third quarter before finishing the quarter on a scoreless drought as they would head into the fourth quarter down 39-35. The Knights energy would run out in the fourth quarter as their bid for the upset would go out the window as the Wolfpack would run away with the game and the Knights would lose 61-44.
Rykia Pennamon led the Knights with 12 points and 10 rebounds as
Kassidy Broussard would add 10 points.
The Knights will be back in action on Saturday, November 20th as they will host the Crusaders from William Carey University as they look to get back in the win column. That game will tip-off at 12 PM EST/11 AM CST.
