Cochran, GA - The Knights were back on the court on Saturday as they hosted the Toppers from Blue Mountain College. The Knights were coming off of a victory in their last game and were looking to ride the momentum for another win. The Knights would fall behind early in the first quarter as the Toppers would score the first basket of the game and make the subsequent free throw before the Knights would go on a 9-0 run to take the lead. The Knights would let the Toppers get back in the game with a 7-0 run before finishing the quarter with a 14-12 lead. The Knights would continue to be in the lead throughout the second quarter as they would increase their lead to as many as nine points before taking a 34-28 advantage into the halftime break. The Knights would come out of the halftime break looking to pull away from the Toppers but the Toppers would not let the Knights get away. The Knights lead would be cut down to a two point lead midway through the third quarter before increasing it back out to a six point lead at the end of the third quarter. The Knights would finally pull away from the Toppers in the fourth quarter as the Knights defense would make some key stops and the Knights would win the game 82-67.
Kassidy Broussard would lead the Knights with 25 points as
Destanee Wright (21 points, 10 rebounds) and
Tamira Anderson (16 points and 12 rebounds) would each record double-doubles. The key to the Knights victory was their free throw shooting, going 26-of-31 from the charity stripe. The Knights will continue to try and ride the momentum into Monday as they travel to Brewton-Parker to make up a postponed game from January 8th. That game will tip-off at 5:30 PM EST.
