Mount Vernon, GA - The Knights were back on the road on Monday as they traveled to Mount Vernon, Georgia to take on the Barons of Brewton-Parker College to make up a game that was postponed due to COVID. The Knights were looking to extend their conference winning streak to three games. The Knights get off to a good start as they would take the lead early in the first quarter before the Barons would come back and take a six point lead at the midway point in the quarter. The Knights would come back to tie the game at 20-20 before the Barons would score the last nine points of the quarter and the Knights would be down 29-20 at the end of the first quarter. The Knights would try and make another comeback in the second quarter as the would cut the lead down to three points before the Barons would take control of the second quarter and the Knights would fall further behind as they would go into the halftime break down 46-34. The Knights would fall behind by 16 points early on in the third quarter before finding their rhythm as they would cut the lead down to 59-53 at the end of the third quarter. The Knights would continue their comeback in the fourth quarter as they would start the quarter with a 10-4 run to take a 63-61 lead with 5:26 remaining in the game. The Knights and Barons would go back and forth trading the lead before the Knights would allow the Barons to ease away as the Knights would lose 80-76.
Destanee Wright led the Knights in scoring with 22 points as
Rykia Pennamon,
Tamira Anderson, and
Kassidy Broussard would each reach double digits. The Knights will return to the court on Thursday, January 27th as they travel to New Orleans, Louisiana to take on the Wolfpack of Loyola University. That game will tip-off at 6:30 PM EST.
