Cochran, GA - The Knights were back in action as they hosted the Roadrunners of Dalton State College on Friday, November 4th in the first round of the SSAC Tournament. It was the first time the Knights had to play in the first round of the tournament since 2018. The Knights lost to the Roadrunners earlier in the season and were looking to avenge their loss. The Knights started out the game attacking as they would be the only team to put up any stats in the first 20 minutes of the match, firing off three shots in the first 15 minutes but none finding the back of the net. The Roadrunners would get on the board first in the 24th minute as the Knights looked to be heading in the same direction as the previous match. The Knights would even things up in the 43rd minute on a
Miagh Downey goal after the Roadrunners keeper was unable to cover the ball. The game would remain tied at the halftime break and the Knights would waste no time as they would pull ahead in the 57th minute on a
Tatjana Steinau goal with an assist from
Ellie Richings to go up 2-1. The game would go back and forth in possession as neither team could get a shot to find the net until the Knights would seal the victory in the 84th minute with a goal from
Hannah Theriault with an assist from Downey. The Knights would win the match 3-1. The Knights outshot the Roadrunners 11-3. The Knights advance to the SSAC Semi-finals to take on the 2-seeded Running Eagles of Life University. The two teams met earlier in the season with the match resulting in a 1-1 draw. The Knights will be looking to advance to their third straight SSAC Tournament final. The semi-final match is set to kickoff at 1:30 PM CST.
