Knights Take Two From Bears

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back on the field on Thursday as they hosted the Bears of Truett-McConnell University as they looked to continue their hot start to the season. The Bears received votes in the NAIA preseason poll and the Knights were looking for the upset victories. The Knights would threaten in the first inning after Karlee Back would lead off the inning with a single. Stolen bases would put Back at third but the Knights would hit three pop outs in the infield and would be unable to score. The Bears would score a run in the first inning but the Knights would come back in the bottom half of the inning. Singles by Alexis Cosgrove and Addison Renfroe would lead off the inning and both would steal a base to give Logan Blizzard a two-run double after the Bears outfielder would lose the fly ball in the sun and the Knights would take a 2-1 lead. The Knights would get two more runs in the third inning on a Summer Lawrence RBI single and an Emma Raulerson RBI double as the Knights would go up 4-1. The Bears would lead off the fourth inning with a home run to cut the lead to 4-2 but the Knights would not surrender another run as they would go on to win the first game 4-2. The second game would be quiet early on as neither team would score in the first three innings of play. The Knights would break the game open in the fourth inning as Back would hit a two-run triple to get the scoring started. Back-to-back RBI doubles by Lawrence and Raulerson would put the Knights up 4-0 and a two-run home run by Cosgrove would give the Knights the 6-0 lead after four innings. The Knights would load the bases in the fifith to set up Raulerson for the walkoff two-run double to end the game and give the Knights an 8-0 victory. The wins move the Knights to 7-1 on the season as they are on a 5-game winning streak. The Knights will be off for a few days as their next series will be on Wednesday, February 16th when they travel to Thomasville, Georgia to take on the Nighthawks of Thomas University. First pitch of the series will be at 1 PM EST.
