Emerson, GA - The Knights were back at Lakepoint Sports Complex on Tuesday as they were set to take on the Lions of Bryan College. Knights and Lions met last season at the NAIA Opening Round with the Knights winning both games. The Knights would be behind 1-0 after the Lions would score a run in the bottom of the first inning. The Knights would answer back in the second inning with Rafael Gomez Jr getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score the first run. The Lions would score another run in the bottom of the third inning to make it a 2-1 game before a Gomez Jr 2-run home run in the fourth inning and a Ryan Wilson 2-run home run in the sixth inning as the Knights would take a 5-2 lead. The Lions would score two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut into the Knights lead and the Knights would be up 5-4. The Knights offense would score two runs in the seventh inning after a wild pitch would allow JT Rice to score and an RBI double by Justin Brooks. The offense would explode in the eighth inning, scoring seven runs on five hits while leaving the bases loaded, and the Knights go into the bottom half of the inning with a chance to put the game away. The Lions would score one run in the inning to stay alive but the Knights would answer back in the top of the ninth inning. Rice would score on another wild pitch after leading off the inning with a double. An RBI single from Blake Metcalfe and a 3-run home run by Clayton Smith would give the Knights the 19-5 lead and the Knights would go on to win by the same score. The return to Cochran, Georgia this weekend as they host the Racers of the University of Northwestern Ohio. First pitch on Saturday will be at 1 PM EST.
