Cochran, GA - The Knights were at home over the weekend as they hosted the Nighthawks of Thomas University. The Knights came into the series on a three game winning streak and were looking to add to it. The Knights would get things started in the first inning as a two run home run by
Brian Herrera would put the Knights up 2-0. The offense would keep rolling as they would score six runs in the second inning on one hit, a three run triple by
Ryan Wilson, and the Knights would take an 8-0 lead. The Knights would give up a run in the fourth inning but would come back to score five runs on a Wilson three run home run, and RBI single by
Andrew Krauss, and a bases loaded walk. The Knights would continue to pour the runs on in the fifth inning as they would score 11 runs on nine hits, highlighted by home runs from
Blake Metcalfe,
Jaiden Duarte, and
Derick Stager. The Knights would give up three runs in the sixth inning but would have a comfortable lead as they would win 24-4. The Knights would keep the offense rolling into the second game of the series as they would get on the board in the second inning as Stager would hit the RBI single to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. The Knights would score four more runs in the third inning, all on one swing from
Blake Metcalfe as he would hit the grand slam to put the Knights up 5-0. The Knights score four more runs in the sixth inning on a Rafael Gomez Jr lead off home run, a hit by pitch with the bases loaded, and a two run double by
Paolo Brossier and the Knights would go up 9-0 and would complete the shutout as they would win the game. The Knights would have to come up big in the third and final game of the series as the Nighthawks would get on the board first with six runs in the fourth inning. The Knights would start to make the comeback with two runs in the bottom half of the inning after an error would allow a run to score and a wild pitch would let the second run to score. The Knights would take the lead in the sixth inning as they would score seven runs on five hits and they would take the 9-6 lead. The Knights would add an insurance run in the seventh inning on a Brossier home run to lead off the inning and the Knights would go on to win 10-6. The Knights bullpen would go 5 2/3 innings, giving up only four hits and one run while striking out seven batters. The Knights will have the week off to prepare for the weekend conference series as they host the Crusaders of William Carey University with one game on Friday, April 1st and two games on Saturday, April 2nd. First pitch is scheduled for 4 PM EST.
