Cochran, GA - The Knights were at home this weekend as they hosted the Tigers of Stillman College in the opening weekend series of the SSAC schedule. The Knights were looking to start off the conference schedule with a few wins. Garrett Martin would get the start in the first game of the series and would put the first two batters of the game on base to start the first inning but would get out of the inning with three straight outs. The Knights would get three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 3-0 lead. The Knights would score two more runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 5-0 lead and would continue to add runs in the fifth inning with an RBI single from Blake Metcalfe and a two-run single from Brian Herrera as they would take a 8-0 lead. The Knights would go on to win the game 8-0 as Martin would pitch a complete game shutout, the first of his career, giving up four hits while striking out 10 batters. The Knights would start Jackson Braden in the second game of the series, hoping to repeat what they did in the first game. The Knights would get started early as they would score one run in the first inning after an error would lead to Justin Brooks scoring and the Knights would take an early 1-0 lead. The Knights would score three more runs in the second inning after an RBI single by Rafael Gomez Jr and a two-run single by Ryan Wilson to take a 4-0 lead. The Knights would score two more runs in the third inning and another run in the fourth inning after a Gomez Jr RBI double and the Knights were looking to end the night early. The Knights would score two more runs in the sixth inning to take a 9-0 lead and would hit a walkoff single in the seventh inning to force a mercy rule. Braden would pitch a complete game shutout, allowing only two hits while striking out eight batters. The Knights would return to the field on Saturday as they would be looking to complete the series sweep against the Tigers with Logan Howell getting the start. The Knights would fall behind in the third inning as the Tigers would score the first run of the game. The Knights would answer back in the bottom half of the inning after Brooks would score on a throwing error by the Tigers pitcher and Gomez Jr would steal home to put the Knights up 2-1. The Knights would get another run in the fifth inning on a Wilson solo home run and the Knights would go up 3-1 but the Tigers would score two runs in the sixth inning to tie the game up at 3-3. The game would remain tied until the eighth inning when the Knights would score seven runs in the inning on three hits to take a 10-3 lead and win the game.
