Cochran, GA - The Knights were back in action on Saturday as they continued their conference weekend with a doubleheader against the #3 Rams of the University of Mobile. The Knights lost both games on the road earlier in the season against the Rams as they looked to upset the undefeated Rams. The Knights would give up three runs to start off the game but would come back to score one run in the bottom half of the first inning on an
Emma Raulerson RBI single. The Knights would give up another three runs in the top of the third inning but a Raulerson two run home run in the bottom half of the inning would cut the lead down to 6-3. The Knights would put
Riley Edge in to pitch in the fourth inning as she would shut down the Rams. The Knights would lead off the fourth inning with back-to-back doubles from
Logan Blizzard and
Addison Renfroe to cut the lead to 6-4. Back-to-back bunts by
Caroline Jennings and
Lauren Heath would give the Knights another run and the deficit would be 6-5.
Summer Lawrence would hit a three run home run to clear the bases and put the Knights ahead 8-6. Edge would continue to pitch well against the Rams as the score would remain 8-6 heading into the seventh inning. The Rams would score two runs in the top of the seventh as the Knights would bring
Beth Eddins back into the game to get them out of the inning. The Knights would lead off the bottom of the inning with a single from Blizzard and would bring in
Makayla Swanson to pinch run. Renfroe would hit a double to left-center field and the Knights would score to walk off the first game of the series 9-8. The Knights would start the second game of the series much like they did the first game as they would give up three runs in the first inning. The Knights would find themselves down by more as the Rams would score one run in the second inning and three more runs in the fourth inning and the Knights would be down 7-0. The Knights offense would finally break through in the bottom of the fourth inning as they would get their first hits of the game on a
Karlee Back single to lead off the inning and
Georgia Bice would hit a two run home run to cut into the deficit. The Knights would be unable to slow down the Rams as they would score two runs in the fifth inning and one run in the sixth inning to force a mercy rule and the Knights would lose 10-2. The Knights will be back on the field on Thursday, April 14th as they will travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to take on the Stillman College Tigers. First pitch is scheduled for 2 PM CST.
