Blue Mountain, MS - The Knights were still on the road on Friday as they were set to take on the Toppers of Blue Mountain College. The Knights swept the Toppers at home earlier in the season and were looking to complete the regular season sweep. The Knights would get off to a hot start as thy would score seven runs in the first inning.
Karlee Back and
Summer Lawrence would lead off the inning with singles as they would end up on the corners. A stolen base by Lawrence and the throw would allow Back to score. Lawrence would score after
Georgia Bice would reach base on an error and the Knights would go up 2-0.
Alexis Cosgrove would hit a two run single and
Logan Blizzard would hit an RBI single,
Caroline Jennings would bunt for a single and bring in another run as Lawrence would come up again and hit an RBI single to finish off the inning for the Knights. The Knights would score another two runs in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly from
Addison Renfroe and a passed ball would allow Cosgrove to score and the Knights would take a 9-0 lead. The Knights offense would not be the biggest story of the day as
Beth Eddins and
Riley Edge would keep the Toppers off the scoreboard, throwing a combined perfect game. The Knights offense would carry over into the second game of the series as they would score one run in the first inning on an
Emma Raulerson RBI single to take a 1-0 lead. The Knights would score three more runs in the third inning after Lawrence would lead off the inning with a triple to set up Raulerson for another RBI single. Cosgrove would hit an RBi single as well with Blizzard hitting into an RBI groundout to put the Knights up 4-0. The Knights would give up two runs in the bottom half of the inning but would score one run in the fourth inning on a Lawrence sacrifice fly and one run in the sixth inning on a Back RBI single as the Knights would win the second game of the series 6-2. The Knights complete the weekend sweep as they get ready to host their last conference weekend on Friday, April 22nd as they host the Tornadoes of Talladega College. First pitch is scheduled for 2 PM EST.
