Knights Take One From Toppers

Blue Mountain, MS - The Knights were on the road for the final road conference weekend of the season as they traveled to Blue Mountain, Mississippi to take on the Toppers of Blue Mountain College. The Knights were looking to regain their form after hitting a rough patch lately. The Knights would get on the board in the first inning on a Ryan Wilson RBI single as they would take the early 1-0 lead. The Knights would get two more runs in the third inning with RBI singles from Rafael Gomez Jr and Wilson as they would grab a 3-0 lead. The offense would keep rolling in the fourth inning as Derick Stager would hit a two run home run and a Wilson sacrifice fly would extend the lead to 6-0. The Knights would bust the game open in the fifth inning as they would score six runs after a two run double from Stager, a Brody Little RBI single, a Gomez Jr RBI double, a sacrifice fly from Wilson, and a bases loaded walk from Andrew Krauss. The Knights would score another run in the sixth inning on a Brian Herrera RBI single to extend their lead to 13-0. The offense would keep pushing as they would score eight runs in the seventh inning to make a 21-0 lead. The Knights would give up two runs in the seventh inning but would hang on for the 21-2 victory. The Knights looked to be in position for a good weekend as they headed into the second game of the series. The Knights would give up two runs in the first inning as they would fall behind 2-0. The Knights would tie the game in the fourth inning on a Blake Metcalfe RBI single and a score a run on an error by the Toppers as they would tie the game up at 2-2. The Knights would give up a run in the fifth inning and the offense would be shut down as they would lose a close game, 3-2. The Knights would come back on Saturday to finish off the series as they looked to salvage a series win. The Knights would be unable to do so as they would only get three hits in the third game and be shut out 8-0. The Knights will be back in action at home on Tuesday, April 19th as they host the Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM EST.
