Knights Sweep Eagles in Final SSAC Regular Season Series

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back in action at home on Saturday as they hosted the Eagles of Faulkner University for the final regular season conference series of the year. The Knights were looking to keep the momentum rolling as they had the 3-seed for the conference tournament locked up. The Knights would start off the game hot as they would score six runs in the first inning on five hits and four errors as they have a 6-0 lead. The bats would cool off as they would not score any more runs throughout the game but the pitching and defense would do their job as Beth Eddins would throw the complete game shutout and allow zero hits to throw the fourth no-hitter in Knights history. The bats would come back to life in the second game of the series as the Knights would score two runs in the first inning after a lead off walk by Karlee Back and a single by Summer Lawrence would give the Knights two runners on with no outs. A double steal and an error would allow both runners to score and the Knights would hold a 2-0 lead after the first inning. The Knights would score four more runs in the third inning after a triple by Back would set up Lawrence for an RBI single. Georgia Bice would come up later in the inning to hit a three run home run and the Knights would have a 6-0 lead. The Knights would score four more runs in the fourth inning after a walk from Barrett Howell and a single from Lauren Heath would set up Back to lay down a bunt and a throwing error would allow two runs to score. Lawrence would hit a sacrifice fly to bring in the third run and back-to-back single by Raulerson and Bice would set up Alexis Cosgrove for the RBI double as the Knights would take a 10-0 lead. The Knights looked in position to force the mercy rule but would give up three runs in the top of the fifth inning to allow the game to continue and would give up six runs in the sixth inning as they would have to fight for the win. The Knights would add an insurance run in the sixth inning after scoring on an error to take an 11-9 lead. The Knights would put Eddins in for the last inning and she would shut down the Eagles to record the save. The Knights will be back on the field on Tuesday, April 26th as they host the Eagles of Trinity Baptist College. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM EST.
