Knights Use Comeback to Split #7 Crusaders

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back at home on Friday as they hosted the #7 Crusaders of William Carey University. The Knights lost two close games on the road earlier in the season against the Crusaders and were looking to return the favor at home. The first game of the series would start out as a pitcher's duel as neither team could sustain any momentum until the fifth inning. The Crusaders would break through to get on the scoreboard first as they would score four runs in the fifth inning. The Crusaders would add two more runs in the sixth inning to take a 6-0 lead on the Knights. The Knights would get the lead off batter on base in both the sixth and seventh innings but double plays would end the threat in both innings as the Knights would lose the first game of the series 6-0. The second game of the series would see the Crusaders get on the board in the first inning as the Knights would fall behind early in the game. The Crusaders would score three runs in the third and fifth innings as the Knights looked to be swept at home. The Knights would find a spark in the offense as they would score five runs in the sixth inning after two out singles by Lauren Heath and Karlee Back would set up Summer Lawrence for the RBI single. Emma Raulerson would clear the bases with a three run home run and Georgia Bice would follow her up with a solo home run to close the gap to 7-5. The two out magic would carry over into the seventh inning as Heath would single again. Riley Edge would be hit by a pitch to get on base to set Lawrence up to walk the game off with a three run home run and the Knights would win the game 8-7. The Knights will look to carry the momentum into their next series on Saturday, April 9th as they host the #3 Rams of the University of Mobile. First pitch is scheduled for 12 PM EST.
