Cochran, GA - The Knights opened the season on Thursday, August 18th as they hosted the Gyrenes of Ave Maria University. The Knights came into the season receiving votes in the NAIA preseason poll and were looking to impress to break back into the top-25 in the next poll. The Gyrenes would take the first shot of the game before the Knights would take over possession. The Knights would take five shots, four shots on goal, before breaking through in the 25th minute with the first goal of the season from Miagh Downey. The Knights would another goal 15 minutes later off the foot of Tatjana Steinau to put them ahead 2-0. The score would remain 2-0 going into halftime as the Knights would outshoot the Gyrenes 8-5. The second half of the match would be dominated by the Knights defense as they would allow zero shots on goal and the Knights would complete the 2-0 shutout. The win puts the Knights record at 1-0 as they return to action on Saturday, August 20th as they are set to host the Nighthawks of Thomas University. Kickoff is set for 2 PM EST.
