Marietta, GA - The Knights were on the road on Tuesday, January 25th as they traveled to Marietta, Georgia to take on the Running Eagles of Life University. The Knights were coming off of a large defeat at the hands of Loyola University and were looking to turn their fortunes around. The Knights would start off the game by falling behind 5-0 before scoring their first points of the night. The Knights would remain behind but would get things together late in the first quarter as they would take the lead with 3:07 remaining in the quarter and would be up 19-13 at the end of the quarter. The Knights would continue to lead in the second quarter as they would slowly pull away from the Running Eagles, stretching their lead to as much as 15 points, before heading into the halftime break up 35-24. The Knights would come out of the break letting the Running Eagles cut into the lead with it shrinking down to five points with 5:36 remaining in the third quarter. The Knights would pick up their scoring again and expand their lead back out to 16 points before heading into the final quarter of play up 61-48. The Knights would again let the Running Eagles back in the game in the fourth quarter as the lead would slowly start to shrink and the Knights would fall behind 73-72 with 31 seconds left in the game. The Knights would get some clutch free throws in the final seconds of the game as they would win 76-73.
Destanee Wright led the Knights with 27 points and six rebounds as
Kassidy Broussard would add 16 points and
Jaida Fitzgerald would add on 12 points. The Knights will be back in action on Monday, January 30th as they travel to Denmark, South Carolina to take on the Tigers of Voorhees College. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 PM EST.
