Cochran, GA - The Knights were back on the field on Thursday, February 9th as they hosted the Bears of Truett-McConnell University. The Knights were coming off of a sweep over Wesleyan the day before and were looking to get a couple more wins over a historically good program. The Knights would kick things off with a bang as they would score eight runs in the first inning on four hits. The Knights would add an insurance run in the fourth inning on a
Taylor Layne RBI double to put the Knights up 9-0. The only blemish of the game would come in the fifth inning with the Knights giving up a solo home run but the Knights would hold on and force the mercy rule, winning the first game of the series 9-1. The Knights would keep it rolling in the second game of the series as they would score four runs in the first inning on two-run singles by
Summer Lawrence and
Georgia Bice to take a 4-0 lead. The Bears would answer back in the top of the second inning with a two-run home run but
Emma Raulerson would hit a two-run home run of her own in the bottom half of the inning and the Knights would be up 6-2. After giving up a run in the third inning, the Knights would score four runs in the bottom half of the inning, capped by a
Lauren Heath home run, to extend their lead to 10-3. The Knights would add three more runs in the fourth inning on a Bice home run to put the Knights in position to force the mercy rule again. The Bears would score two runs in the fifth inning but the Knights would hold them off and win 13-5. It marks the first time since the 2016 season that the Knights have swept the Bears.
