Knights Get the Sweep at #14 Grizzlies

Lawrenceville, GA - The Knights hit the road on Tuesday, February 21st as they traveled to Lawrenceville, Georgia to take on the 14th-ranked Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College. The Knights were facing the Grizzlies for the first time since 2019 and were looking to get an upset. The Knights and Grizzlies would be locked in to a pitcher's duel in the first game as neither team could gain an advantage on the other. The game would be scoreless until the seventh inning when the Knights would score the first and only run of the game on a Georgia Bice RBI single. The Knights would hold on in the bottom half of the inning as they would get the 1-0 victory. Beth Eddins would pitch the complete game shutout, allowing five hits and striking out five batters. The second game of the series would start out faster than the first as the Grizzlies would score two runs in the first inning. The Knights would gain some momentum in the fifth inning as Madisyn Riggins would hit a solo home run to cut the deficit in half. The Knights would threaten again in the sixth inning as they would get runners on second and third with only one out. Christina Zeppa would hit the ball to the Grizzlies first baseman who would make an error that would allow both runners to score and the knights would go up 3-2. Riggins would keep the Grizzlies from scoring in the final innings as the Knights would win game two and earn the sweep. The sweep gives the Knights a 12-2 record as they will look forward to their next series on Saturday, February 25th as they host the Nighthawks of Thomas University. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM EST.
