Cochran, GA - The Knights were back on their home field on Saturday, February 25th as they hosted the Nighthawks of Thomas University. The Knights split the series on the road earlier in the season and were looking to do better at home. The Knights would get things started early as they would score two runs in the first inning with an RBI triple from
Logan Blizzard and an RBI single from
Alexis Cosgrove. The Knights would get four more runs in the second inning on a pair of two-run home runs from
Madisyn Riggins and
Emma Raulerson that would put the Knights up 6-0. A
Morgan Windham two run single and a sacrifice fly from
Addison Renfroe in the third inning would put the Knights up 9-0 and in position for the mercy rule. The Knights would give up two runs in the top of the fourth inning but would come back in the bottom half of the inning with three more runs and the Knights would win the first game of the doubleheader 12-2. The Knights would have a tough time in the second game as they would give up a run in the first inning but would tie the game back up in the bottom half of the inning after an error by the Nighthawks pitcher. The Nighthawks would score another run in the second inning but the Knights would again respond in the bottom half of the inning as they would score three runs on a two-run single by Riggins and an RBI single by Renfroe. The Knights would score another run in theird inning on a RBI single from Cosgrove and the Knights would go up 5-2 as they looked to have another victory in hand. The Knights would give up a run in the sixth inning and three runs in the seventh inning as they would be down 6-5 going into the final three outs of the game. The Knights would quickly hit into two outs before a
Logan Blizzard single and a walk by Cosgrove would set up
Christina Zeppa to hit a pinch hit two-run double to give the Knights a 7-6 walkoff win. The Knights move to 14-2 on the season as they are currently on a nine game winning streak. The Knights will put their winning streak on the line again on Tuesday, February 28th when they travel to Brunswick, Georgia to take on the 18th-ranked Mariners of Coastal Georgia. First pitch is scheduled for 2 PM EST.
