Cochran, GA - The Knights were on the field for the first time this season as they hosted to Bears of Shawnee State University on Saturday and Sunday. The Knights were looking to get the season started off on the right foot with two games on Saturday and two games on Sunday. The Knights would dominate in the first game of the series with an 11-0 shutout victory, scoring one run in the first inning, four runs in the fifth inning, and six runs in the sixth inning. The Knights would get five solid innings from
Hunter Varnadoe and two scoreless innings from
Caleb Lanoux as both pitchers would combine for the three hit shutout. The Knights would get another victory in the second game of the series after they would score three runs in the second inning and one run in the fifth and sixth innings. The Knights would give up a run in the fifth inning but would get the 5-1 victory. The Knights would come back on Sunday looking to carry the momentum and finish out the series. The Knights would get one run in the second inning on a
Brian Herrera solo home run and four runs in the fifth inning. The Bears would get a run in the seventh inning but the Knights would hold them to one run and win the third game of the series 5-1. The Knights would go into the final game of the series looking to complete the four game sweep. The Knights would score four runs in the first and second innings and one run in third inning before giving up a run in the sixth inning. The Knights would answer back with six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Bears would score two runs in the seventh inning as the Knights would prevail 15-3. The Knights would get the series sweep over the Bears to start off the season. The Knights will be back in action on Tuesday, February 7th on the road as they take on the Sand Sharks of USC-Beaufort.
