Montgomery, AL - The Knights were in Montgomery, Alabama this past weekend as they took on the Eagles of Faulkner University. The Knights were coming off of a mid-week win over Reinhardt University and were looking to carry that momentum into the weekend. The Knights would get things started in the first inning with an RBI single from
Andrew Krauss as they would take the early lead. The Knights would extend their lead in the fourth inning with four runs after an error would allow two runs to score on a ball hit by
Jaiden Duarte, a sacrifice fly by
Jacob Pierce, and a passed ball would allow Duarte to score as the Knights would take a 5-0 lead. After giving up a run in the seventh inning, the Knights would add one more run in the ninth inning on an RBI single from
Brennon Williams. The Knights would take the first game of the series 6-1 with
Hunter Varnadoe earning the win, throwing eight innings while allowing five hits and striking out 11 batters. The Knights would go into the second game of the series with hot bats and they would continue to hit the ball. The Knights would take the lead in the second inning on a RBI double from
JT Rice and would take the 1-0 lead. The Knights would extend their lead in the third inning with a three rune home run from
Ryan Wilson and a two run home run from
Brian Herrera as they would go up 6-0. The lead would shrink as the Eagles would score two runs in the bottom of the third inning and three runs in the fifth inning and the Knights would be up 6-5. The Knights would add an insurance run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly from Duarte and the bullpen would shut the game down as the Knights would win the second game 7-5.
Daniel Lee would get the win, coming out of the bullpen and throwing one and a third innings and allowing no hits with
JT Shields being credited with the save. The Knights looked to get the sweep in game three but the bats would cool off. The Knights would allow one runs in the first inning and three runs in the second inning and they would fall behind 4-0. The Knights would get one run back in the third inning with an RBI groundout from Pierce as they would cut the deficit to 4-1. After allowing a run in the fourth inning, the Knights would get an RBI single from Rice to cut into the lead but it was all the offense the Knights could muster as they would lose the final game of the series 8-2. The Knights record moves to 12-11 as they return home for a mid-week game on Tuesday, March 14th when they will host the Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM EST.
