Softball Makes History in Split With Eagles

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back on their home field on Saturday, April 15th as they hosted the Eagles of Faulkner University. The Knights were celebrating Senior Day and were looking to send their seniors off on a high note. The Knights would get off to a slow start as the Eagles would score two runs in the first inning and the Knights would fall behind early. The Knights would respond with two runs in the second inning as both runs would score on a passed ball and wild pitch and the game would be tied at 2-2. The Knights would score another run in the fourth inning on an Emma Raulerson solo home run and the Knights would have a 3-2 lead. The Knights would take the lead into the seventh inning before giving up a two-run home run that would lead to the Knights losing the first game of the doubleheader 4-3. The Knights would respond in a big way in the second game of the day as Logan Blizzard would start the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single. The Knights would add on three more runs in the third inning with RBI doubles from Madisyn Riggins and Raulerson and an RBI single from Kaelyn Campbell to put the Knights up 4-0. The Knights would score four more runs in the fourth inning with home runs from Summer Lawrence and Riggins that would give the Knights a large enough lead to force the mercy rule if they could keep the Eagles off the scoreboard. The Knights would shut down the Eagles and win the game 8-0. Riggins would get the win as she would pitch the no-hitter with the only blemishes for the Knights being two errors. The win would also be the 200th for the Knights in program history since transitioning to the NAIA. The Knights will be back in action on Tuesday, April 18th as they travel to Brunswick, Georgia to take on the 21st-ranked Mariners of Coastal Georgia. First pitch is scheduled for 2 PM EST.
