Knights Sweep Mariners in Top-25 Matchup

Brunswick, GA - The Knights were on the road on Tuesday, April 18th as they traveled to Brunswick, Georgia to take on the 21st-ranked Mariner of the College of Coastal Georgia. The Knights were coming off of a split series against Faulkner and were looking to gain some late season momentum. The first game of the series would start off well for the Knights as they would score the first run of the game in the second inning on a Georgia Bice RBI double. The Knights would score another run in the fourth inning on a solo home run from Emma Raulerson that would put the Knights up 2-0. The Knights would add on another run in the fifth inning on a Logan Blizzard RBI single to pull ahead 3-0. The game would be broken open in the sixth inning when the Knights would score nine runs, highlighted by a bases clearing three-run triple by Christina Zeppa. The Knights would give up a run in the bottom half of the inning but would get the 12-1 mercy rule victory. The second game of the series would be a much closer game than the first as the Knights would give up runs in the third and fourth innings as they would fall behind 2-0. The Knights would answer back in the fifth inning as they would score two runs on a Zeppa double and the game would be tied at 2-2. The Knights would give up a solo home run in the bottom half of the inning but would get a solo home run from Lauren Heath in the top of the seventh inning that would tie the game at 3-3 and the game would go into extra innings. In extra innings, the Knights would get three runs in the eighth on an RBI single from Raulerson and a two-run home run from Summer Lawrence that would give them a comfortable lead. The Knights would give up a run in the bottom half of the inning but would hang on for the 6-4 victory as they would complete the sweep over the Mariners. The sweep gives the Knights a 33-9 record as they will hit the road again on Friday, April 21st as they travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to take on the Tigers of Stillman College.
