Knights Earn Another Split Against Crusaders

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back on the field for another conference matchup on Friday, March 31st as they hosted the 19th ranked Crusaders of William Carey University. The Knights split the road series with the Crusaders so they were looking to better that result. The Knights would face one of the best pitchers in the nation in the first game of the series. The Knights would get on the board first as they would score two runs in the second inning as an error would allow Logan Blizzard to score and a Lauren Heath RBI single would put the Knights up 2-0. The Knights would score two insurance runs in the sixth inning on RBI singles from Summer Lawrence and Georgia Bice as the Knights would take a 4-0 lead and win the game by the same score. Beth Eddins would get the win, allowing only two hits in the shutout. The Knights were looking to finish off the sweep in game two of the series. The Knights would score first as they would score one run in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Gabbie Haas. The Knights would hold the 1-0 lead until the seventh inning where they would give up one run as the game would go into extra innings. The game would remain tied until the tenth inning when the Crusaders would take the lead on a three run home run and the Knights would have no answer in the bottom half of the inning. The Knights would lose the game 4-1 as they would split the home half of the series as their record moves to 25-5, 11-3 SSAC. The Knights will hit the road on Tuesday, April 4th as they travel to Cleveland, Georgia to take on the 23rd ranked Bears of Truett-McConnell University. First pitch is scheduled for 2 PM EST.
