Knights Split With Rams

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back at home on Thursday, March 30th as they hosted the 10th ranked Rams of the University of Mobile. The Knights previously defeated the Rams on the road earlier in the season and were looking to get another sweep. The first game of the series would be a tight battle as neither team could sustain any offense. The Knights would break through in the sixth inning as Summer Lawrence would hit a sacrifice fly to put the Knights up 1-0 and Georgia Bice would hit an RBI single to extend the Knights lead to 2-0. The Knights would get the Rams down to the last out but the Rams would score three runs in the seventh inning and the Knights would lose the first game 3-2. The second game of the series would be a different story as the Knights would score early and often. The Knights would score their first run in the second inning on a Lauren Heath RBI single and the Knights would go up 1-0. The Knights would score two more runs in the third inning on an Alexis Cosgrove sacrifice fly and a Lawrence RBI single. The Knights would give up a run in the fourth and fifth innings but would come back in the bottom half of the fifth with three runs on a Lawrence two run single and a Heath sacrifice fly to put the Knights up 6-2. The Knights would finish out the game in the sixth inning with Madisyn Riggins scoring on a wild pitch, a Logan Blizzard sacrifice fly, and a Bice two run double to force the mercy rule. The Knights split the series and take three out of four from the Rams on the season as their record moves to 24-4, 10-2 SSAC. The Knights will be back in action on Friday, March 31st as they host the Crusaders of William Carey University. First pitch is scheduled for 2 PM EST.
