Knights Down Skyhawks

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back in action on their home field on Tuesday, April 18th as they hosted the Skyhawks of Point University for a mid-week game. The Knights were coming off of a victory over Talladega College and were looking to hold on to their momentum. The Knights would fall behind in the first inning as the Skyhawks would score one run in the top of the first inning but the Knights would even the game back up in the bottom half of the inning after an error by the Skyhawks would allow JT Rice to score. The Knights would break the game open in the second inning as they would score four runs in the inning on a bases loaded walk by Jacob Pierce, a sacrifice fly by Andrew Krauss, and RBI single by Garrett Dennis, and a wild pitch that would allow Pierce to score as the Knights would go up 5-1. The Knights would score another two runs in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Pierce and an RBI double by Jaiden Duarte. The Knights would put the game out of reach in the fifth inning as they would get RBI doubles from Adam Alicea-Brooks and Dennis, a two-run home run from Pierce and a sacrifice fly from Duarte that would put them up 12-1. Pierce would score the final run of the game for the Knights as he would hit his third home run of the game in the sixth inning to put the Knights up 13-1. The Skyhawks would threaten in the seventh inning but would only score one run and the Knights would get the 13-2 victory by way of the mercy rule. The Knights victory moves their record to 23-19 as they hit the road for their final conference road series when they travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to take on the Tigers of Stillman College on Friday, April 21st and Saturday, April 22nd.
