Knights Split Final Conference Series on the Road

Mount Vernon, GA - The Knights were on the road on Wednesday, April 26th as they traveled to Mount Vernon, Georgia to take on the Barons of Brewton-Parker College in the final SSAC series of the regular season. The Knights swept the Barons at home earlier in the season and were looking to do the same as the Knights had a chance to clinch the SSAC regular season championship. The Knights would start the first game of the series by giving up a run in each of the first three innings as they would fall behind 3-0 early. The Knights would start to find their rhythm late in the game as they would score one run in the fifth inning on a Kaelyn Campbell RBI single. The Knights would get another run in the sixth inning on an Alexis Cosgrove sacrifice fly that would close the gap to 3-2. The Knights would tie the game in the seventh on a Christina Zeppa RBI single and the game would go into extra innings. The Knights and Barons would remain tied into the tenth inning when the Knights would score a run on a Madisyn Riggins RBI double. The Knights would close out the bottom half of the inning and score the 4-3 victory. The Knights would carry the momentum into the second game of the series as they would score two runs in the first inning with a two-run single from Summer Lawrence. The Knights would score another run in the fourth inning on an RBI single from Georgia Bice as they would take a 3-0 lead. The Knights would maintain their lead until the sixth inning when the Barons would string together four runs and the Knights would be unable to score in the seventh inning as the Knights would lose the second game 4-3. The split moves the Knights record to 38-10, 22-6 SSAC as they would be bumped out of the 1-seed by Mobile. The Knights will play one final regular season series on Saturday, April 29th as they host the 10th-ranked Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College before heading to Decatur, Alabama for the SSAC Tournament where they will be the 2-seed. First pitch for this weekend is scheduled for 1 PM EST.
