Cochran, GA - The Knights were on their home field for the final time this season as they hosted the Barons of Brewton-Parker College. The Knights were on a hot streak and were looking to keep it up. The Knights would start the first game of the series with two runs in the first inning on a
Ryan Wilson RBI single and an error by the Barons that would score another run. After giving up two runs in the second inning and one run in the third, the Knights would score three runs in the bottom of the third inning on an
Andrew Krauss two-run home run and another error that would plate a run to put the Knights up 5-3. The Knights would quickly lose the lead as the Barons would score four runs in the top of the fourth inning but the Knights would score one run in the bottom half of the inning on a sacrifice fly from Krauss. After a lengthy rain delay, the Knights would give up two runs in the fifth inning but would come back in the bottom half of the inning to score eight runs, highlighted by a grand slam from Jake Edwards, that would put the Knights ahead 14-9. The Knights would get another two runs in the seventh inning on a two-run home run from
Brennon Williams to extend their lead to 16-9. After giving up a run in the seventh inning, the Knights would score four runs in the bottom half of the inning on RBI singles from
Jacob Pierce, Krauss, and
Jaiden Duarte as well as a hit batter with the bases loaded as the Knights would force the mercy rule and win the first game of the series 20-10. The Knights would come back the next day to finish out the series. In game two, the Knights would fall behind 6-0 early on before get things started in the fourth inning as the Knights would get a grand slam from
Datren Bray and a two-run home run from Pierce to tie the game at 6-6. The Barons would score one run in the fifth inning but the Knights would answer back with four runs on an RBI single from Duarte and a three-run home run from
Garrett Dennis as they would take a 10-7 lead. The Knights would add two insurance runs in the sixth inning on a two-run triple from Dennis as they would go on to win 12-7. The Knights would carry their offense over into the final game of the series as they would score four runs in the first inning after a wild pitch would plate one run, an RBI groundout from Krauss, and a two-run home run from
Brennon Williams. The Knights would add on another run in the second inning on an RBI single from Wilson and two runs in the third inning on a Duarte solo home run and score one run on a wild pitch. The Knights looked to be well on their way to an easy victory after they would score another three runs in the fourth inning with a solo home run from Krauss and a two-run home run from Edwards. The Barons would score five runs in the fifth inning but the Knights would answer back with a three-run home run from Wilson as the Knights would be ahead 13-5. The Knights would give up another four runs in the sixth inning but a solo home run from Edwards would add another run for the Knights. The Knights would continue to struggle on the mound as the Barons would add another three runs in the seventh inning but the Knights would again have an answer as they would score a run on an error by the Barons. The Knights would give up another run in the eighth but would hold off the Barons as they would win 15-13. The sweep gives the Knights a 30-18, 16-8 SSAC record as they finish out the regular season and head into the SSAC Tournament as the 4-seed. The Knights will take on the 5-seed Wolfpack of Loyola University on Wednesday, May 3rd at 10 AM CST.
