Knights Pick Up Program's 100th NAIA Win

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back on their home court on Wednesday, January 31st as they hosted the Nighthawks of Thomas University. The Knights previously played the Nighthawks on November 9th and lost a close game as they looked to pick up the victory. The Knights would fall behind early as they would have trouble finding the bottom of the net. The Knights would trail by as much as nine points before closing out the first quarter down 17-11. The Knights would cut the deficit down to three points at the start of the second quarter but the lead would grow back to nine points. The Knights would continue to fight as they would close the gap back down to three points before heading into the halftime break down 36-31. The Knights would continue to cut into the Nighthawks lead in the third quarter as they would tie the game at 44-44 with 4:49 remaining in the third quarter. The Nighthawks would go on an 8-0 run but the Knights would have some fight left in them as they would trail 54-50 as the end of the third quarter. The Knights would keep the game close in the fourth quarter until the Nighthawks would go on a 10-0 run late but the Knights would continue to claw their way back into the game as they would use their own 10-0 run to tie the game at 66-66. The Knights would hit some shots down the stretch as they would take the 71-68 victory. Vanessa Samuel led the Knights with 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field and 7-of-11 from the free throw line. The victory for the Knights was the 100th victory at the NAIA level.
