Mount Vernon, GA - The Knights were back on the court for the second straight day as they were set to finish up the Brewton-Parker Classic in Mount Vernon, Georgia. The Knights were set to take on the Mighty Banyans of New College of Florida and came into the game having won their first two games of the season.
The Knights got off to a slow start as they would fall behind by double digits early in the first half. The Knights would claw their way back into the game as they would take a 20-19 lead with 7:04 remaining in the first half. The lead changed hands multiple times throughout the rest of the first half before the Knights would go on a 6-0 run to close out the half and head into halftime up 37-32. The Knights would look to keep pulling away in the second half as they would take a 10 point lead with 18:37 remaining in the game. The shooting for the Knights went cold as the Mighty Banyans would tie the game at 54-54 with 12:04 remaining in the game. The Knights would score a basket to re-take the lead but the Mighty Banyans would continue to score in bunches as the Knights would fall behind and go on to lose 80-71.
Nick Cham led the Knights with 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field as
Milique Smith and
Nhine Wills would each reach double digits in scoring.
Nhine Wills also led the team with 10 rebounds to record a double-double.
The Knights will be back in action on Wednesday, November 6th as they travel dow to Brunswick, Georgia for a rematch against the Mariners of the College of Coastal Georgia. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST.
