Mount Vernon, GA - The Knights were away from their home court on Saturday, November 2nd a they traveled to Mount Vernon, Georgia to take on the Barons of Brewton-Parker College. The Knights were fighting for the final spot in the SSAC Tournament and a win against the Barons would better their odds of securing the final spot.
The Knights would look good in the first set as they would jump out to a 9-3 lead but the Barons would go on a five point run to close the lead down to one. The Knights would pull away again later in the set with the Barons making a push to get the win but the Knights would close out the set to win 25-18. The Knights and Barons traded points for most of the second set with the Barons stringing together some multiple point runs as the Knights would lose the set 25-22. The Knights would start off the third set down 5-0 but they would come back to make the set close and keep it close until the end as they would lose the third set 25-21. The Knights started the fourth set falling behind and would be down 12-5 in the set. The Knights would chip away at the lead and close to lead to 13-10 but the Barons would recover and the Knights would lose the set 25-17.
Yanelis Rodriguez led the Knights with 22 kills,
Ellie Johnson led with 41 assists, and
Paige Collier led with 19 digs as two other Knights would reach double digits.
The Knights will hit the road again on Saturday, November 9th as they travel to Montgomery, Alabama to take on the Eagles of Faulkner University. That match is set to start at 1 PM CST.
