Knights Split Mid-Week Series With Barons

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back on the field on Tuesday, February 13th as they hosted the Barons for a mid-week doubleheader. The Knights were looking to gain some momentum heading into the conference opening weekend and to get some revenge after losing two of the first three games of the season to the Barons. The game would move quickly as neither team could plate any runs until the fifth inning when the Barons would score one run but the Knights would answer back in the bottom half off the inning on an Adam Alicea-Brooks RBI double to tie the game at 1-1. The Knights would knock the door down in the sixth inning as Chaz Salter would get the scoring started with a two-run single. The scoring would continue with a bases clearing triple by Jaiden Duarte. Ryan Wilson would an RBI single with Zane Faulk hitting a two-run single and Hunter Noblitt hitting a two-run double as the Knights would score ten runs in the sixth inning. The Knights would close out the game in the seventh inning to win the first game of the doubleheader 11-1. Seth Darling would get the win after throwing two innings out of the bullpen, allowing no hits and striking out five batters. The second game of the day would get off to an explosive start as the Knights would score two runs in the first inning on a Wilson two-run home run and one run in the second inning on an Alicea-Brooks solo home run to give the Knights a 3-0 lead. The Barons would score one run in the third inning and five runs in the fifth inning but the Knights would score a run in the bottom half of the inning on a wild pitch and the Knights would trail 6-4. The Barons would score another run in the sixth inning and the Knights would not have an answer as the Knights would lose the second game of the doubleheader 7-4. The Knights will be back in action on Friday, February 16th as they open SSAC play with a weekend series against the 18th-ranked Rams of the University of Mobile. First pitch is scheduled for 2 PM EST.
