Cochran, GA - The Knights were on the road on Wednesday, February 14th as they traveled to Decatur, Georgia to take on the Scotties of D-III Agnes Scott College. The Knights were coming off of a sweep of Talladega College and were looking to add a couple more wins to the season total. The Knights would make quick work of the Scotties in the first game as they would get off to a hot start with five runs in the first inning on an
Alexis Cosgrove walk with the bases loaded, a bases clearing three-run double from
Summer Lawrence and a double steal that would plate Lawrence. The Knights would score two more runs in the second inning, both on double steals as they would take a 7-0 lead after two innings. The Knights would score two more runs in the fourth inning on RBI singles from
Madisyn Riggins and Cosgrove as the Knights would win the first game of the series 9-0.
Emily Proctor would get the win, throwing a five inning complete game, allowing only two hits while striking out seven batters and one walk. The Knights offense would stay hot in the second game as they would score five runs in the first inning on a Cosgrove two-run single, a
Taylor Layne RBI single and an error would allow Cosgrove to score, and a
Sarah Latham RBI single as the Knights would take a 5-0 lead after one inning of play. The Knights would add three more runs in the second inning on a
Morgan Windham RBI triple and an error would allow her to score on the same play and a Riggins solo home run to give the Knights an 8-0 lead. The Knights would score another run in the third inning on a
Gabbie Haas RBI single and the Knights would be in the same position as the first game. The Knights would continue to add runs as they would score seven runs in the fifth inning after a double steal and an error would plate the first run of the inning. Windham would hit an RBI single followed by a
Christina Zeppa RBi single. A Cosgrove sacrifice fly would add a run and an error by the Scotties would allow another run to score. A two-run single by
Carmen Phillips would cap off the scoring as the Knights would hold a 16-0 lead going into the fifth inning. The Knights would give up a run in the bottom half of the inning but would go on to win the game 16-1.
Mary Ballard would get the win, allowing only one hit and one run while striking out one batter and walking three. The Knights will be back in action as they return home on Sunday, February 18th to take on the Tornadoes of D-III Brevard College. First pitch is scheduled for 11 AM EST.
