Knights Get Big Sweep to Open SSAC Play

West Point, GA - The Knights hit the road for their first conference weekend on Friday, February 23rd as they traveled to West Point, Georgia to take on the Skyhawks of Point University. The Knights were undefeated coming in to the matchup and were looking to add two more wins to the record. The Knights would jump on the Skyhawks early as they would score four runs in the first inning on a bases loaded walk by Georgia Bice and a bases clearing, three-run double by Summer Lawrence. The Skyhawks would get two runs back in the bottom half of the inning the Knights would score two runs in the second inning on a Morgan Windham RBI double and an RBI groundout from Madisyn Riggins. Riggins would drive in two more runs for the Knights in the third inning on a two-run triple to put the Knights ahead 8-2. The Knights would put the game away in the fifth inning with a two-run double from Christina Zeppa as the Knights would force the mercy rule and win 10-2. The Knights would carry their momentum into the second game of the day as they would score one run in the first inning on an RBI single from Lawrence as the Knights would take an early 1-0 lead. The Knights would add two more runs in the third inning with an RBI groundout from Zeppa and a solo home run from Lawrence that would put the Knights up 3-0. The Knights would finish off their scoring in the fourth inning as they would get a two-run single from Windham and an RBI double from Riggins as they would take a 6-0 lead and go on to win the game by the same score. Emily Proctor would get the win after throwing a complete game, shutout while allowing 11 hits and striking out four batters. The Knights stay undefeated and will finish up the conference road trip on Saturday, February 24th as they travel to Montgomery, Alabama to take on the Eagles of Faulkner University. First pitch is scheduled for 2 PM EST.
