Knights Fall to #4 Grizzlies

Lawrenceville, GA - The Knights were on the road on Tuesday, February 27th as they traveled to Lawrenceville, Georgia to take on the 4th-ranked Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College. The Knights and Grizzlies split the four games played last season, all by one run, and the budding rivalry looked to be up for two more great games. The Knights would be up against their first tough test of the season.

Game One

The Knights would get things started with a single from Madisyn Riggins and a sacrifice bunt from Morgan Windham to move Riggins over to second as the Knights looked poised to have a great day on offense but the Knights would strand the runner at second. The Knights would come back in the second inning as Gabbie Haas would reach via an error from the Grizzlies and singles from Georgia Bice and Taylor Layne would bring Haas in as the Knights would take a one run lead. The Grizzlies would answer back in the third inning with three runs to take a 3-1 lead but the Knights would get one run back in the fourth after an Alexis Cosgrove triple and a sacrifice fly from Haas to cut the Grizzlies lead to 3-2. The Knights would be unable to sustain any offense after the fourth inning as they would go on to lose 3-2.

Game Two

The second game of the day for the Knights would be much less exciting. The Knights would give up five runs in the first inning and two runs in the second inning as they would trail 7-0. The Knights would settle down after the first two innings as they would not allow any more runs to score but would have no luck on offense as they would lose the game 7-0.

The Knights record falls to 9-3 as they prepare to hit the road as the travel to Mobile, Alabama this weekend as they take part in the Gulf Shores Tournament, hosted by the University of Mobile. The Knights will start play on Friday, March 1st as they take on the 3rd-ranked Patriots of the University of the Cumberlands at 3:45 PM CST followed by the Cougars of Columbia College at 6 PM CST.
