Cochran, GA - The Knights opened the home portion of their season on Saturday, February 3rd as they hosted the Barons of Brewton-Parker College after traveling to Mount Vernon on Friday for one game. The Knights were looking to get their first win of the season. The Knights would start the game looking good as
Brennon Williams would drive the first run of the game in after a fielding error would allow
JT Rice to score. An RBI single by
Yariel Diaz would score the second run of the inning and Williams would come in to score after a throwing error by the Barons catcher as the Knights would take a 3-0 lead after the first inning. The game would move quickly as neither team could generate much offense until the sixth inning when the Barons would threaten to take the lead but the Knights would hold them to two runs. The Knights would need some solid defense in the seventh inning as the Barons would put runners on second and third but the Knights would get the victory after a great defensive stop by Rice.
Dylan Dickert would get the win after throwing five scoreless innings, allowing only one hit while striking out eight batters. The Knights would start the second game of the day looking to sweep the day and win the weekend series. The Knights would give up two runs in the second inning and four runs in the third inning but would get one run back in the bottom of the third inning on a Williams RBI single. The Knights would add another run in the fifth inning as Rice would lead off the inning with a solo home run, his second home run of the season, as the Knights would trail 6-2. The Knights would surrender another run in the sixth inning but would get it back in the seventh inning after an error by the Barons would allow a run to score. The Knights would be unable to get any more offense as they would lose the game 7-3. The Knights will be back in action at home on Friday, February 9th as they take on the Buffs of Milligan University. First pitch is scheduled for 2 PM EST.
