Thomasville, GA - The Knights were back on the diamond on Thursday, February 29th as they traveled to Thomasville, Georgia to take on the Night Hawks of Thomas University. The Knights were coming off of a series win over William Carey and were looking forward to taking on the Night Hawks in their first conference road trip of the season.
Game One
The Knights get things started in the first inning as they would score a run on a bases loaded walk by
Brennon Williams to take a 1-0 lead. The Knights would give up two runs in the second inning but
Jacob Pierce would tie the game up at 2-2 in the third inning with a solo home run. The Knights would give up nine unanswered runs as they looked to be on their way to a blowout loss. The Knights would show some signs of life late as they would score five runs in the sixth inning on RBI singles from Williams and
Ryan Wilson and a three-run home run from
Yariel Diaz to close the lead to 11-7. The Knights would score again in the seventh inning with RBI singles from
Jaiden Duarte and
Yadiel Perez but would come up short as they would lose 11-9.
Game Two
The Knights start the second game of the day just like they started the first game as they would score one run in the first inning with an RBI single from
JT Rice. The Knights would add on to their lead in the third inning with a two-run single from Wilson and would add another run in the fourth inning with a solo home run from Diaz as the Knights would hold a 4-0 lead. The Night Hawks would score six answered runs but the Knights would use another comeback as they would score two runs in the ninth inning on an RBI double from
Adam Alicea-Brooks and an RBI single from Diaz as they would tie the game at 6-6 and send it into extra innings. The Knights would be unable to score in the tenth inning as the Night Hawks would score in the bottom half of the inning and the Knights would lose 7-6.
The Knights will be back on the field on Sunday, March 3rd as they return to Thomasville to try and get a win. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM EST.
