Knights Upset Grizzlies at Home

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back on their home field on Tuesday, March 12th as they hosted the 2nd-ranked Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College. The Knights were looking to get back in the win column and build some confidence going into another conference weekend.

The Knights would get off to a tough start as the Grizzlies would score two runs in the top of the first inning but the Knights would answer back in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI groundout from Ryan Wilson. The Grizzlies would score another two runs in the second inning but the Knights would score another run in the second inning on a JT Rice solo home run as they would close the gap to 4-2. The Grizzlies would extend their lead with a run in the fourth inning as the Knights would trail 5-2. The Knights would break through in the fifth inning as they would score five runs in the inning on an RBI groundout by Zane Faulk, an RBI single by Yadiel Perez, a bases loaded hit by pitch by Jaiden Duarte, and a two-run single by Chaz Salter as the Knights would take a 7-5 lead. The Knights would keep the momentum rolling in the sixth inning as they would score four more runs a bases loaded walk by Brennon Williams, a wild pitch that would allow Rice to score, and a two-run triple by Duarte as the Knights would lead the Grizzlies 11-5. The Grizzlies would score three runs in the eighth inning to close in on the Knights but the Knights would score a run in the eighth inning on a Williams solo home run. The Grizzlies would score two more runs in the ninth inning and would get the tying run on base but the Knights would close out the game as they would win 12-10.

The win gives the Knights a 10-12 record on the season as they head into another conference weekend as they host the Tigers of Stillman College with two games on Thursday and one game on Friday. First pitch on Thursday will be at 2 PM EST.
