Knights Sweep Grizzlies in Low Scoring Games

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back in action at home on Tuesday, March 12th as they hosted the 3rd-ranked Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College. The Knights were coming off of a conference series split against Thomas University and were looking for a statement win.

Game One

The Knights and Grizzlies would both threaten in the first inning with both teams putting a runner in scoring position but neither team would score any runs. The Knights would get on the scoreboard in the third inning with an RBI double from Gabbie Haas. The Knights would limit the Grizzlies production as the Knights would only allow one hit for the remainder of the game as the Knights would win the first game of the doubleheader 1-0. Beth Eddins would throw the complete game shutout, allowing three hits while striking out nine batters.

Game Two

The Knights and Grizzlies would be locked in another battle in the second game of the day as neither team would generate much offense through the first six innings of the game. The Grizzlies would get on the scoreboard in the seventh inning with an RBI single as they would take a 1-0 lead. The Knights would come through in the clutch as Alexis Cosgrove would hit the tying solo home run as the game would go into extra innings. The Knights would score the winning run in the ninth inning on a sacrifice fly from Cosgrove as the Knights would complete the sweep over the Grizzlies.

The sweep of the Grizzlies gives the Knights a record of 14-6 as they prepare to head into another conference series on Saturday, March 16th as they will travel to Mount Vernon, Georgia to take on the Barons of Brewton-Parker College. First pitch is scheduled for 12 PM EST.
