Mount Vernon, GA - The Knights hit the road on Thursday, March 14th as they traveled to Mount Vernon, Georgia to take on the Barons of Brewton-Parker College. The Knights were coming off of a sweep of #3 Georgia Gwinnett and were looking to ride that wave of momentum into a conference sweep.
Game One
The Knights would start off the first game of the series slow as they would not have a base runner until the fourth inning but would be unable to bring the runner in. The Barons would score one run in the fourth and fifth innings as the Knights would face a 2-0 deficit. The Knights would get a run back in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly from
Summer Lawrence and would load the bases with two outs but would be unable to bring in any more runs. The Knights would get a runner to third in the seventh inning but could not drive the run in as they would lose the game 2-1.
Game Two
The Knights would face a deficit to start the second game of the series as the Barons would score three runs in the first inning but the Knights would answer back in the second inning as they would score a run on an error by the Barons and get a sacrifice fly from
Georgia Bice to draw the deficit to 3-2. The Barons would extend their lead in the bottom of the second inning to 4-2. The Knights would take control of the game in the fourth inning when they would score three runs on a two-run double by
Morgan Windham and an RBI single from
Taylor Layne as the Knights would take a 5-4 lead. The Knights would add an insurance run in the sixth inning on an RBI groundout by
Carmen Phillips to take a 6-4 lead and go on to win by the same score.
The series split gives the Knights a record of 15-7, 5-3 SSAC as they will get a week of rest before their next game when they host the Tigers of Stillman College on Saturday, March 23rd. First pitch is scheduled for 12 PM EST.
