Lawrenceville, GA - The Knights were on the road on Tuesday, March 19th for a mid-week game as they traveled to Lawrenceville, Georgia to take on the 2nd-ranked Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College. The Knights previously defeated the Grizzlies last Tuesday and were looking to complete the season sweep.
The Knights would get off to a good start as they would score one run in the top of the first inning after a two out triple by
Ryan Wilson would be followed up by an RBI double by
Zane Faulk. The lead would be short lived as the Grizzlies would score four runs in the bottom half of the first inning and the Knights would trail 4-1. The Knights would close the gap in the second inning on an RBI single by
Chaz Salter as the Knights would still trail 4-2. The game would be quiet until the fifth inning when the Knights would score another run on an RBI double by Faulk but the Grizzlies would score three runs in the bottom half of the inning and the Knights would continue to trail 7-3. The Knights would get another RBI single in the sixth inning from Salter but the Grizzlies would score four more runs in the bottom half of the inning and the Knights would trail 11-4. The Knights would get one run back in the seventh inning with an RBI single from
Jaiden Duarte to trim the lead down to 11-5. The Knights would get on a roll in the ninth inning as they would try to mount a comeback as they would get an RBI single from
Jacob Pierce, score a run on a double play, and an RBI double by Duarte but the comeback would fall short as the Knights would lose 13-8.
The Knights wind up splitting the season series with the Grizzlies as they will be back in action on Friday, March 22nd as they travel to Blue Mountain, Mississippi to take on the Toppers of Blue Mountain Christian University for an SSAC weekend series with two games on Friday and one game on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM CST.
