Knights Thwart Toppers Comeback Attempt

Blue Mountain, MS - The Knights were on the road on Friday, March 22nd as they traveled to Blue Mountain, Mississippi to take on the Toppers of Blue Mountain Christian University. The Knights went into the matchup coming off of a tough loss against Georgia Gwinnett but were starting to pick up some momentum within conference play.

The Knights would get things started early in the first inning as a single by Jacob Pierce and two straight walks would load the bases for Brennon Williams to hit an RBI groundout and Yadiel Perez to hit an RBI single as the Knights would take a 2-0 lead after the first inning. The Knights would pick up two more runs in the second inning on an RBI double from Ryan Wilson and an RBI single from Williams as they would extend their lead to 4-0. The Knights lead would remain 4-0 until the fifth inning when they would score another run on an RBI single from Hunter Noblitt as they would take a 5-0 lead. The lead would grow in the sixth inning with another RBI double from Wilson and an RBI single from Zane Faulk as the Knights would look to be in control of the game as they would lead 7-0. The Toppers would make things interesting late in the game as they would score four runs in the sixth inning and one run in the seventh and eighth innings but the Knights would lock things down as they would hold on for the 7-6 win. Daniel Vos would get the win, going 5.2 innings and allowing four runs on four hits while striking out three batters, while Gabriel Dyar would get the save, throwing two innings and allowing only one hit.

The Knights will be back in action on Saturday, March 23rd as they look to finish out the series against the Toppers with two games, starting at 12 PM CST.
