Knights Sweep the Firehawks

Cochran, GA - The Knights were on their home field on Thursday, March 28th as they hosted the Firehawks of UT-Southern. The Knights were coming off of a series split with Stillman and were looking to add two more wins to the record.

Game One

The Knights would have a tough time finding the strike zone in the first game of the series as the Firehawks would score one run in the first inning on a walk. The Knights would get the run back in the second inning on a sacrifice bunt from Georgia Bice that would tie the game at 1-1. The Knights would add another run in the third inning on a Morgan Windham single with an error that would allow a run to score as the Knights would take a 2-1 lead. The Firehawks would surge ahead in the fourth inning on a three-run home run as the Knights would face a 4-2 deficit. The Knights would close the gap in the fifth inning on a fielder's choice that would score a run and the Knights would trail by one run. The Knights would bust the game open in the sixth inning as they would score four runs on an error, a sacrifice fly by Taylor Layne, an RBI single by Gabbie Haas, and an RBI triple by Alexis Cosgrove. The Firehawks would get one run in the seventh inning but the Knights would hold on for a 7-5 victory.

Game Two

The second game of the series would see the Knights bats continue to work as they would score one run in the first inning on an RBI groundout by Gabbie Haas. The Knights would extend their lead in the second inning as they would score a run on a wild pitch and get a two-run single by Christina Zeppa as they would take a 4-0 lead. After the Firehawks would score a run in the third inning, the Knights would get the run back on a wild pitch to take a 5-1 lead. The game would be sealed at that point as neither team could generate enough offense to score any runs and the Knights would come away with the 5-1 win.

The Knights record moves to 18-8, 8-4 SSAC as they prepare for another doubleheader on Friday, March 29th as they welcome the Toppers of Blue Mountain Christian University. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM EST.
