West Point, GA - The Knights were back on the field on Friday, March 8th as they finished out their series against the Skyhawks of Point University. The Knights split with the Skyhawks on Thursday and were looking to finish off the series with a win.
The Knights would get the first hit of the ball game in the second inning and put a runner in scoring position but would come up unsuccessful in scoring any runs. The Knights would get 90 feet closer to scoring in the third inning as they would get a runner on third but still come away with no runs. The Knights would get on the board in the fifth inning with a two-run double from
Jacob Pierce but the Skyhawks would score two runs in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game at 2-2. The Knights would answer back in the sixth inning as they would score three runs on a
Yariel Diaz two-run home run and an RBI single by
JT Rice as they would take a 5-2 lead. The Skyhawks would have an answer for the Knights as they would score six runs in the bottom half of the inning and the Knights would fall behind 8-5. Another home run from Diaz in the eighth inning would close the gap to 8-6 but the Knights would be unable to score any more runs as they would lose 8-6.
The Knights will have a tough test ahead as their next game will be on Tuesday, March 12th when they take on the 2nd-ranked Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM EST.
