Cochran, GA - The Knights were back on their home field on Wednesday, April 10th as they hosted the Nighthawks of Thomas University in a mid-week non-conference matchup as they were also trying to beat the weather as rain was imminent.
The Knights would start
Jalen Hudson on the mound and Hudson would perform well. The Nighthawks score a run in the second inning on an error and one run in the third inning on a sacrifice fly to take a 2-0 lead. The Knights would get a run back in the fourth inning on a
JT Rice RBI double as they would cut the lead to 2-1. Hudson would keep the Nighthawks within reach, throwing six innings and allowing five hits. The game would move quickly as the score would remain 2-1 until the eighth inning when the Knights would break through for three runs on a two-run home run by
Yariel Diaz and a sacrifice fly by
Chaz Salter as they would take a 4-2 lead heading into the ninth inning. The Nighthawks would put up a fight as they would score one run but the Knights would shut down the comeback attempt as they would win the game 4-3.
Titus Richardson would get the win out of the bullpen and
Andrew Lowrey would get the save, his third of the season.
The Knights will be back in action on Friday, April 12th as they travel to Denmark, South Carolina to begin a three game series with the Tigers of Voorhees University. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM EST.
