Knights Offense Explodes in Sweep of Skyhawks

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back on the field on Friday, April 12th as they hosted the Skyhawks of Point University for a conference doubleheader. The Knights were hot coming off of a sweep over #14 Mobile and were looking to keep their momentum trending in a positive direction.

Game One

The Knights would surrender a run to the Skyhawks in the first inning as the wind would help play a factor but the Knights would go unfazed as they would score five runs in the second inning as Georgia Bice would lead the inning off with a solo home run. The Knights would score their second run on catcher's interference with the bases loaded and score runs on a sacrifice fly from Summer Lawrence and a two-run double from Alexis Cosgrove. The Knights would score two more runs in the third inning on a sacrifice bunt from Christina Zeppa and an RBI single from Morgan Windham to take a 7-2 lead. The offense would continue to roll in the fourth inning as they would score nine runs in the inning as they would take a 16-2 lead into the fifth inning and force the mercy rule. Beth Eddins would pitch the complete game, allowing four hits while striking out seven batters.

Game Two

The second game of the series would start out much like the first as the Skyhawks would score a run in the first inning but the Knights would answer back in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI double from Madisyn Riggins and an RBI single from Alexis Cosgrove. The Knights would add to their lead in the second inning as they would load the bases for Summer Lawrence to unload them as she would hit the grand slam to make it a 6-2 game. The Skyhawks would get a run back in the fourth inning but the Knights would score two runs in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run double from Madisyn Riggins and the Knights would take an 8-2 lead. The Knights would finish the game off in the fifth inning with RBI singles from Christina Zeppa and Morgan Windham to force the mercy rule. Madisyn Riggins would pitch the complete game, allowing four hits and striking out two batters.

The Knights will be back in action on Saturday, April 13th as they host the Eagles of Faulkner University. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM EST.
