Cochran, GA - The Knights were back in action on Saturday, April 13th as they hosted the Eagles of Faulkner University. The Knights were coming off of a high scoring sweep over Point University and were looking to keep their bats hot.
Game One
The Knights looked to be on the same page as they would score two runs in the first inning as two walks and a single would load the bases with a run scoring on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly by
Alexis Cosgrove would put the Knights up 2-0. The Knights would add two more runs in the third inning after a double and two walks would load the bases and two more walks would drive in both runs of the inning to give the Knights a 4-0 lead. The Knights would keep the Eagles off the scoreboard until the sixth inning when the Eagles would score three runs to close the gap to 4-3. The Knights would settle things down and close out the game to win 4-3.
Beth Eddins would pitch the complete game, allowing seven hits and striking out three batters.
Game Two
The second game of the series would be a low scoring affair as neither team could put together any offense. The Knights would finally string things together in the fourth inning with
Mary Ballard leading off the inning with a double.
Georgia Bice would lay down the bunt and an error by the Eagles would allow both runners to score as the Knights would take a 2-0 lead. The Knights would add on another run in the fifth inning with an RBI single by
Alexis Cosgrove to give them a 3-0 lead. Three runs would be more than enough runs that they would need as the Knights would close out the game and win 3-0.
Emily Proctor would get the complete game shutout, allowing four hits and striking out two batters.
The Knights will be back in action on Tuesday, April 16th as they host the Cougars of Columbus State University. First pitch is scheduled for 2 PM EST.
