Waleska, GA - The Knights were on the road on Tuesday, April 16th as they traveled to Waleska, Georgia to take on the 8th-ranked Eagles of Reinhardt University. The Knights previously played the Eagles two weeks ago at home and were on the wrong side of the score as they were looking to avenge the loss.
The Knights would get off to a good start as they would two runs in the first inning as a single, walk, and hit by pitch would load the bases for
Zane Faulk to hit into a fielder's choice and a
Jaiden Duarte RBI single would give the Knights a 2-0 lead. The Eagles would answer back in the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run but the Knights would be ready to answer back in the third inning as they would score four runs on an RBI single by
Ryan Wilson and a three-run home run by
Brennon Williams as the Knights would take a 6-1 lead. The Knights would increase their lead in the fourth inning with a solo home run by
Chaz Salter as they would hold a 7-1 lead after four innings. The game would turn quiet until the eighth inning when the Eagles would score a run to cut the Knights lead down to 7-2. The Knights would get the run back in the ninth inning as they would score a run on a fielder's choice and they would hold an 8-2 lead. The Eagles would attempt a comeback as they would score three runs in the bottom half of the inning but the Knights would hold them off as the Knights would take the 8-5 victory.
Jalen Hudson would get the win, throwing 6.2 innings while allowing four hits and striking out five batters.
The win gives the Knights some momentum as they head into the final home series of the season as they host the 11th-ranked Eagles of Faulkner University on Friday, April 19th. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM EST.
