Cochran, GA - The Knights added a late series to their schedule as they hosted the Cougars of Columbus State University. The Cougars will be a future conference opponent for the Knights after the D-II transition and it was a chance for the Knights to see where they stand against future competition.
Game One
The Knights would look impressive against the Cougars to start off the game as they would score three runs in the first inning with an RBI single by
Alexis Cosgrove and a sacrifice fly from both
Emily Proctor and
Christina Zeppa as the Knights would take a 3-0 lead early in the game. The Knights would keep the Cougars off the scoreboard until the fourth inning when the Cougars would hit a two-run home run to close the gap but the Knights would answer back in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single by
Gabbie Haas as they would extend their lead to 4-2. The Knights and Cougars would both be unable to generate any offense late as the Knights would take the first game 4-2.
Beth Eddins would get the win, throwing the complete game and giving up four hits while striking out six batters.
Game Two
The Knights would go into the second game looking for the sweep and would look to be on their way as they would score two runs in the second inning on RBI single by
Georgia Bice and
Summer Lawrence with the Knights taking an early lead. The Knights would go late into the game with the lead but the Cougars would score one run in both the fifth and sixth innings and take the lead with two runs in the seventh inning as the Knights would trail 4-2. The Knights would be unable to answer the Cougars surge as the Knights would lose the second game of the series 4-2.
The Knights will be back in action on Saturday, April 27th as they wrap up the regular season with a conference series against the Barons of Brewton-Parker as they celebrate Senior Day. First pitch is scheduled for 12 PM EST.
